⚠️ Windows 11 Update Alert: This Patch Could Break Your PC – Here’s What to Do

A critical issue has emerged with the latest Windows 11 security update, and it’s serious enough to put your data and device at risk.

Users are reporting:

  • 💥 Hard drive failure and unrecoverable data loss
  • 💻 Sudden blue screens of death (BSOD)
  • 🔐 BitLocker screens locking them out — even if BitLocker wasn’t enabled

This was part of a recent automatic update from Microsoft, and it has now received a CVE severity rating of 9.8 – meaning it’s both widespread and dangerous.

  3. After the script runs, restart again to complete the process.

If you’re not on our patch management service, you’ll need to manually remove the update and pause further updates until Microsoft releases a fix.

🔧 How to Prevent Windows from Reinstalling the Problematic Update

Step 1: Pause Updates Temporarily

  1. Open Settings > Windows Update
  2. Click “Pause updates for 1 week”
  3. Repeat if needed to extend the pause (up to 5 weeks total)

This buys time until Microsoft issues a fixed update.
